Dan Speaking to Rotary Club of Anchorage East

Dan with Troops from JBER

As part of my healing journey in the aftermath of being blinded and nearly killed by a bear, I have developed a powerful, inspirational presentation that reveals how love, community support, and a positive attitude have helped me find meaning, success, and happiness in life. I have shared my story of learning to move beyond the bear to embrace a new future with a variety of audiences, both in and out of Alaska, including civic leaders, business communities, corporate retreats, sports teams, health and social service providers, school kids, and troubled teens. My presentation topics include overcoming adversity, maximizing resiliency, the use of guide dogs, living with trauma, and the power of positive thinking. My commitment to giving back caught the attention of the Governor’s Committee on Employment and Rehabilitation of People With Disabilities, which presented me with its Alaskan of the Year award in 2008.
